This bracelet accessory is usually worn by Malay, Indian and Chinese Peranakan women.
Dokoh
Dokoh is a traditional Malay women’s clothing accessory that is worn around the neck. Dokoh is a chain pendant that is usually shaped like a crescent moon or an oval that is worn in layers, either one layer up to three layers or more. Dokoh is made of tin, metal or copper and it is often confused with brooch or kongsang. In the old days, dokoh was used as an ornament for brides and was styled with the Kebaya dress.
Brooch (Kerongsang)
Brooch (Kerongsang) or kongsang is a type of pin to attach the hem of a dress or veil so that it does not open. Malay women will wear three similar-shaped brooches and some also wear different shapes. Brooches can be worn singly and some are worn in tiers and chains, where it depends on the wealth status of the wearer.
Pending
Pending is a Malay women’s clothing accessory that has a function like a belt. Pending has been designed and decorated with various motifs and shapes such as human eyes, round, square and so on. Pending is usually worn by Malay men and women as a ceremonial dress where the men will use the Pending to tie the cloth and side while the women will wear the Pending on the waist outside of traditional clothing.
Cucuk Sanggul
Cucuk Sanggul is one of the personal ornaments for Malay, Indian and Chinese Peranakan women. Most Malay women in the past had long hair because of their feminine nature. Malay women will use Cucuk Sanggul to pin or hold their long hair in a bun at the back of the head so that it does not fall out.
